Sorry, I guess that I haven’t felt the blog bug much as of late considering, what, its been since feburary that I last updated this thing.

I have been pretty active over on my flickr page, but you know. Blogging takes work sometimes. I am going to resurect this though because witht he impending move to Chicago, I will likely have (a) time on my hands, and (b) plenty to write about. So stay tuned.

The fishing was pretty cool…Defiantly a great experience. And after a span of 10+ years fishing for the bastards, I fianly caught a few the honest way. I feel like I can finally call myself an Oregonian.

The fly that worked for me (pics to follow)

• size 6 TMC heavy scud hook
• tungston bead head
• lots o’ lead
• Tail = 2 loops of crystal flash
• Body = peacock ice dub
• Hackle = olive chickaboo soft hackle (clip the fibers off of the top of the fly)
• shell back/tail combo = Small bunch of PT fibers tied in at the head and again at the rear of the fly. Let the excess PT tips form the tail.

I also tied these in chartruse since it seemed that the fish showed an affinity for green things. They looked good, and I did foul hook a sucker fish on one, so hey that something.

And on the way home we saw a bumper sticker that almost defies description. I am too much of something to actually laugh at this. I guess that it just left me dumbfounded. Pretty good for a bumper sticker.

Yes that really does say “Get-R-Drunk”. Classy stuff there.

Getting ready for the stealhead trip, originally uploaded by Moonshine and Matches.

I am off to Boy Howdy NE Oregon for a few days to chase some steelhead. Of which, during my lifetime, I have hooked a few, and landed two. Once in Lake Superior when was a kid, and one in Emigrant Creek near Ashland when the ODFW dumped a ton of 3rd run pellet head fish in the reservoir.

Keep yer fingers crossed that that the fish hear my train a-comin’.

It sure has been a long time.

I was out photographing campus yesterday and came across someone sleeping, and as I always do, I photographed them. I was processing the images today and noticed that the napper bears a striking likeness to yours truly.

Perhaps its my time traveling future self coming back to alter some part of my present life. Guess that I will break the golden rule of time travel at some point in the future.

Everybody keep your fingers crossed that I don’t just *poof* disappear someday.

A spine and a set of ribs found at the entrance to a clearcut out McGowan Creek Road. I thought that this was really creepy when I drove past this, but as I was backing up to photograph it, it occured to me that I might do exactly the same thing if I had found a bunch of cool bones out in the woods. Yet again I might have just left them where they were. Regardless of how they ended up hanging ona wire, I like this image.

The rest of these images are from the sportsman’s show on Saturday. There was very little of note except some taxidermy. The rational for killing and stuffing critters eludes me. Is it so hunter can remember the animal? If I was close enough to that bear to shoot it, you can be sure I would be able to recall it.

The film on the home page is riveting too.

I recently bought a Olympus XA at Goodwill. It is really small, has user adjustable f/stops, and a rangefinder. Hot dang! I have run three rolls of film through it so far, and I must say that I am not super impressed as of yet. But I doubt that I have taken it off of the widest aperture setting yet, which may account for the general unsharpness of the camera. None the less the images have a delightfully large amount of vignetting around the edges just like my ol’ Lomo justa before it sunk to the depths of the Siltcoos river.

• Teaching myself to like whiskey, in particular, being introduced to good scotch.
